How does it work?

RustStop® Rx100 can be applied onto already painted surfaces, new steel surfaces, and, even rusted surfaces. Once applied, RustStop® Rx100 goes to work immediately. Firstly  ^- it penetrates deep into the metallic substrate and seals the metal/rust from deep within. Secondly ^- as it dries, it completely seals the surface, thus preventing the moisture carrying oxygen from entering.  Put simply, RustStop® Rx100 suffocates the metal/rust – thus preventing the substrate from breathing.

Once cured (up to 48 hours), RustStop® Rx100 will dry to a hard, flexible, water repellent, non-conducting, permanent coat that is capable of handling very high heat. (300 deg C)

RustStop® Rx100 is a non-toxic, non-flammable, solid-state coating, that does not crack or peel, and contains no harmful solvents.  Although permanent, RustStop® Rx100 dries to a transparent coat; therefore visual inspection of equipment and surfaces is not impaired.

When applied as directed, a two-coat treatment of RustStop® Rx100 will last over 10 years under the harshest conditions.

Do I have to paint over RustStop® Rx100 for it to be effective?
No, RustStop® Rx100 is designed to be a stand-alone protective coating and there is no need to paint over it.

Is RustStop® Rx100 difficult to apply?
Not at all, RustStop® Rx100 is very simple to apply and can be done using a standard paintbrush, enamel roller or paint spray-gun.

Is RustStop® Rx100 safe?

Yes RustStop® Rx100 is very safe. It is non-flammable in both its liquid and cured state.

How much surface preparation is needed?

Very little, you will need to remove any flaking and loose rust, and ensure the metal is dry and free from grease before application. RustStop® Rx100 can be applied directly over existing rust and will penetrate and stop it from spreading any further.

How long will RustStop® Rx100 protect the metal?

RustStop® Rx100 is very long lasting and if applied properly should provide protection for over 10 years under the harshest conditions a even longer under normal conditions.

What size containers is RustStop® Rx100 available in?

The standard pack is a 1litre can.  It can also be ordered in 5 litre and 20 litre packs and is also available in a 300ml aerosol format for small areas and consumer retail sales.

Can RustStop® Rx100 be used as a primer i.e. can paint be applied over Rx100?

Yes, RustStop® Rx100 is an excellent primer and we recommend a quick drying enamel top coat. (see Paint Preparation below)

Can RustStop® Rx100 be used as a clear coat, no wax covering over a vehicle's paint job?

This is not advisable as the gloss finish may vary over large sections.

Will the RustStop® Rx100 "surface" crack.

No, the surface remains flexible and will never crack.

Can it be applied over existing rust.

Yes it can be applied directly over existing rust  (clean flaked areas first) and will stop rust totally - it precludes the metal from breathing and receiving oxygen and water, totally suffocating the rusting process.
